Welcome to Practical Philosophy Kingston

We offer a ten week evening course in Practical Philosophy

Who We Are

We are the Kingston Branch of the School of Economic Science, a registered charity based in Central London and with branches throughout the UK.

We currently offer our "Practical Philosophy" course for a nominal fee of £10 in celebration of our 23rd year in the local area and we have called it "A Gift of Happiness". Our Courses are run in central Kingston in either John Lewis Department Store or The Steadfast Centre, Thameside, Kingston-upon-Thames; we also occasionally run courses in Richmond at The Richmond Friends Meeting House, 36 Retreat Road, Richmond  TW1 9NN. No prior knowledge is required for the introductory course.

Introductory courses start three times a year usually in January, April/May and September/October. All are welcome.

Many hundreds of people have participated in our course since we first opened our doors in Kingston in 1994. The vast majority have found it to be of real practical benefit in their lives as well as being illuminating and enjoyable. You can see video clips from students on this site.

People of all ages and backgrounds come to our classes, from teenagers to senior citizens. You are only asked to have an open mind and a willingness to consider the views of others. Further details of the course are available in the ‘About the course’ section of this website.

We hope to see you.
